Cyclone Posted November 22, 2004 Report Share Posted November 22, 2004 This is the first of my two new projects. The it is a warmoth that I bought off of ebay. It is a soloist body and while it is a factory made body I had to make some repairs to it. The previous owner had tried to cut a hole for the single coil neck pickup and screwed it up bad. As you can see in the first picture I filled the hole with a Maple plug, but I messed up and didnt set it in the right way. In the second picture it is hard to see but their were two screws broken off in the upper horn, which I had to extract and plug. http://fullservesite.com/cyclone8/death%20dealer/warmoth.jpg http://fullservesite.com/cyclone8/death%20...er/warmoth1.jpg after finishing all of the repairs I was able to prime the body this past saturday using URO primer. http://fullservesite.com/cyclone8/death%20...er/warmoth2.jpg for the finish on this one I plan on using a base coat/clear coat system with an airbrush mural between the two. It is a charvel that I bought while in Japan about 10 years ago. Back when I bought it the paint chipped off of it and I tried to repaint it, but screwed it up. She is into the whole "Goth" culture so what I plan to do is paint it gloss black and paint a Disney theam mural on it. I know what you are saying a Disney theam for some one into goth. Well its going to be mickey and minnie dressed in goth atire in front of the enchanted castle and across the top in gothic lettering "Its a Goth World after all". I hope to have the paint that I will use for both projects in by thursday after next. hopefully I will be able to finish wet sanding both guitars by then and paint the following week end. Cyclone Posted December 25, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 25, 2004 well we gave the guitar to Megan this morning and she loved it. For myself it was kind of like giving away one of my children. I have had the guitar since 93' or 94' and it has been all over the world with me but when Megan opened the case and saw it, it made all of the work I put into it worth the effort. I must say that becoming part of the Project Guitar forum and learning from everyone one has been a christmas gift in itself, so I would like to say Merry Christmas to everyone that has been a part of the forum and additionally thank everyone for the contributions made. Cyclone Posted December 27, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 27, 2004 Matt, Thank you for the complements. Unfortunatly it wasnt me that painted the mural. I came up with the "Goth World" idea and a professional artist that I work with brought my idea to life. I did however do all of the other work, from stripping the paint, that was on it before, to laying the 15 coats of polyuritane, wet sanding and buffing.
