AlGeeEater
ok so i got to work on my Kramer body and neck this afternoon. I am in the process of stripping the paint(which aint going to well) and i have fixed hte head stock. It was really funky from a router accident with the previous owner: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/AlG...er/DSC00586.jpg ^the body+neck before stripping. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/AlG...er/DSC00591.jpg The neck before it was cut^ Ok, im not sure what to do about the holes. I was thinking of using wood filler but i dunno if it would hold. Im definatly going to fill the fourth hole as i want a 3x3 head stock. Any suggestions at all? The body is almost done being stripped. I will take pics as soon as possible
SawDust_Junkie
Hey AlGee ! The only thing that I could think of that I would be happy with would be to cut the headstock like in this pic and then laminate another piece of maple onto the peghead and drill for your new 3 x 3 hole configuration. AlGeeEater
I might just slice it like that, then just drill the peg holes.
Drak
I believe you're going to have to glue on an extra section of wood there, the re-cut it like you want it. Maple preferred. Do a good job of it, paint it black when you're done, no one will be the wiser. No wood putty there, disaster city awaits you if you do. What's the body made of? I had a late '80's Kramer that was solid 1-piece Maple body, bridge HB, and genuine Floyd. Ahhh, the 80's...

AlGeeEater
Drak, here is the pic of the wood. Im not good with woods and what they look like: Its warm sounding wood, and light too. Any ideas? I thought it might be mahogany or maple. MikeB-I love that!!! i think im going to use that, it looks like an ibanez headstock just upside down kinda. Man that rules!
AlGeeEater
And heres the headstock all cut. I drilled the holes tonight also but i dont feel like taking pictures...im beat. TBH, it looks real cool with the tuners in. I just have to do a little mods to them with my dremel Thanks MikeB!
Drak
Nah, mine was heavy like a rock, but in a good solid way, holding it made you just want to take a swing at someone with it, like it empowered you, like holding a sword makes you feel. AlGeeEater
So do you know what kind of wood mine is? Its not exactly light, like a strat, but its not ebony i dunno how to explain. Im to dumb Maple maybe? Drak
1) Your picture is too close up and doesn't show anything really definitive that would help define what it is. 2) It looks like it still has sealer or primer on it. I need to see bare wood, preferrably a little end grain maybe. 3) Solid Maple is heavy, there's no getting around that. If it's not heavy, it's not Maple. It's probably Wiminite wood or Paelo Lorto Conference wood or something like that.
AlGeeEater
Well Mr., i dont need ur attitude ok? Sealer is still on. I cant seem to get it off. I let the stripper sit on for a while and it still didnt come off When i take it off ill get Drak preffered pics (sorry bout the crap pics tho!) Drak
If you're lucky and it winds up being actual Paelo Lorto Conference (Pa-lo-con in common woodmen's talk) it might even be *pre-ban Palocon*, so you might be a lucky guy. AlGeeEater
Just like how lucky i was to have sheizwite? Whats so good about this wood now eh?
Drak
Pa-Lo-Con was known for it's high end whiplash snarly bite while RETAINING a really thick chunky middle, usually hard to accomplish. They were a limited production run, much like the famous Gibson Korina run. They're affectionately known as the 'Pelican Kramers'. I think Brian (Dubs) McShane from The Enticers and Steve (Suds) McSturgiss from The Indestructible People used them exclusively back in the mid '80's. That's all I remember about it. AlGeeEater
oh cool, sounds like a pretty sweet little sound. should be fun to play around with...
darren wilson
Do you have a good straight-on shot of the body? From that first pic, it doesn't look (to my eye) like it has the usual late-'80s Kramer body shape and contours, but it's hard to tell from the angle and lighting. darren wilson
Well, i just hope you got it for a ridiculously low price, considering it's a carcass from a $129 guitar with a broken, non-original neck and cheap, non-original electronics!
