sscovill
Alright, I've been hanging around here forever, asking a ton of question and being a general pain in the ass trying to decide on my first project and how to do it. So, here are a couple photos of my project so far. I'm doing a flat-top Les Paul that I plan to cover the top with black leather (faux) and paint the sides and back gloss black with the classic-style silver/mirror flames on the back. The body is made from two pieces of mahogany glued together. Click on the link below to see a couple photos. Neck photos will hopefully be posted next weekend. http://photobucket.com/albums/v487/sscovil...?action=options Edited December 6, 2004 by sscovill

sscovill
Thanks for the comments. I'd honestly prefer a carved top, but since this is my first project, I decided to go for the "easier" style and see how I do with that and also make sure it plays nice. Lizard_King
Looks nice, would love to see progress picts if possible. Keep up the good work, just take your time and don't rush through it. I believe my next project is going to be a neck through LP look a like with my own little touches added to it of course, wanting to go with a 5 or 6 piece neck on it. what kind of neck are you using on yours? sscovill
The neck I'm using is plain mahogany...nothing fancy. Unfortunatley, I don't have progress pics. I always intended to take my digital camera to my friend's shop where I worked on it, but I forgot the damn thing every time!
Maiden69
is this a body blank, or you have a drop top on it? If not how are you going to wire from the selector switck to the control cavity? I know flat tops are a bit easier, especialy than a LP carve, but if your top is not 100% stright it tend to show a lot on the clear finish. sscovill
No carved top. This is going to be flat and covered with leather. As far as the wiring channel goes, I've drilled from the switch cavity through the PU cavities and then diagonally down to the controls.
