Drak
Hmmmmmmm, my favorites? That's a pretty long list. But at the top 10... The Black Guys (Ultimate Kings of the Art): Guitar Slim (aka Eddie Jones, aka Supreme Blues Hellraiser) Albert Collins (one of the best live shows Drak -ever- witnessed) T-Bone Walker (no comment necessary, he was a bad, bad man) Lightnin' Hopkins (-nobody- looked cooler in a pair of shades than Lightnin') Magic Sam (I mean c'mon, West Side Soul is required listening) Hound Dog Taylor ('the sun is shinin, lawd') Freddie King (big guitar, bigger man) Sister Rosetta Tharpe (now THAT girl was Just Plain BADASS) JB Hutto (gotta have a great slide guy with a funny hat in there) Buddy Guy (in his heyday, Buddy was a freakin' insane guitar WILDMAN) The White Boys (mostly copycats, but good ones): Roy Buchanan (my personal guitar hero numero uno) Bobby Radcliff (he can cop Magic Sam's shout style PERFECTLY) Johnny Winter (J.W., in his day, was the closest thing to a shredder the blues had) Yes, of course, SRV (didn't think I'd leave him out didja?) Duke Robillard (he can swing as hard as T-Bone) Little Charly Baty (you name it, he can play it, and better than most) Gary Moore (surprise blues late bloomer) Coco Montoya (he's got the chops and the voice down perfect, KILLER talent) Omar Dykes (of Omar and the Howlers, Texas Blues) George Thorogood (Mr.P-90 Grungy Gnarly-Tweed-Tone he's lost his early fire tho...) Drak
'Blues-Rock' is a completely different catagory with a completely different roster of badasses. Pat Travers Frank Marino Robin Trower Johnny Winter Early Scorpions Jimi Hendrix Cream Ronnie Montrose maybe? Grand Funk Railroad maybe? ...that sort of thing is/was known as 'blues rock'
PerryL
I may get roasted for this but I love this newish band from Akron, Ohio called "The Black Keys". Dan Auerbach is the guitarist and Patrick Carney is the drummer, Their a 2 piece and you'd swear that Dan was black from his voice. Blues Rock at it's best. Their music is featured in one of the New truck commercials also.

johnsilver
Some personal favorites: SRV - the man (RIP) Johnny Winter - blues, rock, slide, resonator wild man Billy Gibbons - Hot, Blue and Righteous - tasty Texas blues back in the day before the beard Freddie King - I'm going down, down, down, down, down Duane Allman - blue when he wanted to (and RIP) Some newer guys: Chris Thomas King (from New Orleans) Keb Mo (Delta heritage but a wide variety of sounds) Jonny Lang (plays a tele)
TeleFreak
Shame on all of you for not including Robert Cray. This guy has the smoothest butteryest tone in the world and knows exactly the right moments to play and when to shut-up and let the band take the groove. Drak
I'm very well aware of Robert Cray, but I think he sucks and that's why I didn't mention him. I don't think his style has any personality to it at all, he could be one of a myriad slew of blues players out there, I wouldn't be able to tell him from any other. Different strokes and all that...I'm not saying he DOES suck, just that -I- think he sucks, it's just my opinion.
