I didn't even know that such a thing exists. does anybody know more about them, (do they break easily, should I take special care of these strings) I haven't hanged my strings yet!... Brian Posted January 2, 2005 Report Share Posted January 2, 2005 I had a set I put on my Ovation years back and I never bought another type for it up untill the day I let it go. Originally I just thought it was a ploy or gimmick to sell fancy gold plated strings but they really brought out the tone from highs to lows so much better. They last a long time as well if you wipe them down just like you would a normal set of strings after playing, gold doesn't tarnish like silver/nickle does so they will last longer simply because you have to wear through the plating.
