jay5 Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I just picked this up from Lee Valley. IT is a replacement spindle(?) for a drill press mounted drum sander and a guide bearing. The idea is that it prevents side load on the chuck when you push your workpiece against it as drill presses arent designed to take sideload well. In my case I just raise the table up until everything is solid and away I go. I just got the drill press from my girlfriend for X-mas and I really wanted to be able to use drum sanders in it, I was just really leary of screwing up the alignment with repeated side load. I saw this on the Lee Valley site and it just made perfect sense to me. I am going to recess the bearing and drum into the table when I get a chance, but so far I'm pretty happy with this. lmmr Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 that's pretty cool indeed, i destroyed my first neck due to the side load that is was putting and didn't even noticed it, until it was too late of course... Quote
