fishgiven
I have heard it said that there are no stupid questions so I have to ask. Has anyone tried dipping a guitar body in that 2 part epoxy such as Crystal Sheen? This is the stuff used in decopague and the tops of bars and restaurant tables. My guess is that it would leavea thick clear finish.
Phil Mailloux
My guess is this wouldn't be financially viable since your bucket of epoxy would be one big piece of transparant rock after a couple of hours
erikbojerik
I just did some maple pickup covers using Buehler 2-part epoxy (we had some lying around at work), I just mixed what I needed and brushed it on. It cured nice & hard, but imparted a definite amber tint to the wood.
chrisb0109
I don't think it is your standard two part epoxy. I asume you're talking about that think clear stuff they use of restaraunt table when they have like pictures and such underneath. Like maybe those restaraunts where each table had some various photogracphs, coins, etc, etc underneath the finish? I think I knw what you are talking about, but from what I understand it is a little pricy and is more complicated that epoxy. This sounds odd, but my great grandmother used to decorate her toilets with it. She would put coins, yarn, and anything she could fins on the toilet seat and then finish it with this stuff. She was a little looney though.

fishgiven
I was not going to dip it. I was considering a brush on application. I am playing with some test pieces. I have used a small amount tofill some repairs to an Ovation acoustic top. they spray on a Poly epoxy finish that is close and compatable. We'll see!
