Agent Jem
I'm currently building an SG and I'm putting on a tune-o-matic bridge and a stop tailpiece. I was looking at the Gibson SGs and I noticed that either the bridge or the tailpiece is angled. I'm wondering what angle this is, or if I need to angle either of them at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Brian
I'm not positive but it is probably done to help with the intonation in a more natural way. I would think placing it at an angle would give you a wider range of control down the line of strings for adjusting the saddles.

westhemann
this is what you do.the stud at the high e side you put at the correct scale(25.5 or whatever it is on your guitar)then you put the low e side about 3/16" further away from the nut.it's called compensation and like brian said helps with intonation.
