PaulNeeds
If you run Windows XP I'll tell you all how to fix it for a dollar! In fact, I'll tell you for nothing! Turn on the XP Internet protection firewall. Control Panel> Network Connections>your dialup ADSL OR Modem connection>Properties Click on advanced and check the tick box for the firewall. It is sensible to run a real firewall as well, but this stops the little grey annoying boxes.

Never happens on my work LAN, but when I plug into my Cable-Modem at home GREY BOXES Everywhere!! The funny thing, almost everyone is advertising a product to stop them!!! AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!! PaulNeeds
Sorry Dave, I skipped from me to XP so never used 2000. worth a search online at the Microsoft site though - I would think they have some kind of solution that everyone else is exploiting. krazyderek
i just use adsubtract, and i set "all sites" to block cookies, ads, and pop ups, then sites like hotmail and here, i allow cookies to be stored for them but adding them to the custom filter list. it used to be free.... i think.
