inoulose Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I'm putting an EMG 81 and an 85 on my guitar, which i think are both active. How many battery boxes do i use for them? im thinking 2 since theres 2 active pickups but can i just use 1? thanks. Quote
Paul Marossy Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 If they are both 9V circuits, they both can run off of the same power supply. Therefore, only one is required. Quote
westhemann Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 only one per guitar,no matter how many pickups. Quote
selmac Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 you can use two in order to run them at 18v or both at 9v for longer battery life but running at 18v changes the tone, and batteries last long enough so... (IMO it is better to run EMG's at 18v, sounds better to me) in conclusion just run them on 1 9v and follow the schematic that comes with the pickups or if you are a little more experienced run them at 18v. MOST guitars with EMG's are only using 1 battery Quote
westhemann Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 don't get me wrong.i just ordered a guitar to be built with the 18 volt system.i am also building a beast which i routed for two boxes for the 18 volt system.i know it is preffered by many...but one battery per guitar is what is reccomended Quote
