Drak
What model/manufacturer? Makes a BIG difference. That piece of crap I bought wouldn't cut a 1/4" piece of balsa wood, and it was the SAME price as my beloved DELTA! PS, you'll break -more- than a few, even after you learn the tool well. All repeat after me now, 'IT'S NORMAL AND EXPECTED TO BREAK SCROLL SAW BLADES, THEY ARE A THROW-AWAY ITEM' I mean, if you're cutting out 1/4" rear covers or steer head designs, you shouldn't be breaking blades. But when you're cutting out a body blank, yeah, it's gonna happen. Blades are like pennies apiece, it's a -nothing- subject. Finding a good machine that will do the deal and has quick and effortless blade changing abilities, now THAT'S where you need to be concerned. One thing I noticed about the cheap piece of crap was that it was very light. Probably 1/2 the weight of my DELTA. It would hobble all over the table unless it was clamped down. What a piece of crap that thing was, I immediately hated it.

Drak
Dude, the DELTA, which is what I use, is $100.00. for chrissakes, It IS an entry-level machine that just happens to kick butt! And I mark onto the wood. If I was doing something that needed a pattern to be placed, I would probably be using a hand saw (like for pearl)

Drak
Something about 'pushing the button' sparked me to go hunt this lyric down, don't know why really... Generals gathered in their masses, just like witches at black masses. Evil minds that plot destruction, sorcerers of death's construction. In the fields the bodies burning, as the war machine keeps turning. Death and hatred to mankind, poisoning their brainwashed minds. Oh lord, yeah! Politicians hide themselves away. They only started the war. Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor, yeah. Time will tell on their power minds, making war just for fun. Treating people just like pawns in chess, wait till their judgement day comes, yeah. Now in darkness world stops turning, ashes where the bodies burning. No more War Pigs have the power, Hand of God has struck the hour. Day of judgement, God is calling, on their knees the war pigs crawling. Begging mercies for their sins, Satan, laughing, spreads his wings. Oh lord, yeah! --Black Sabbath, War Pigs

Drak
Great deals and good wood! Vedder sells quality goods, one of the BEST spalted Maple billets I've bought was from him. Keep us posted when you start building them, I have become a complete spalt hound (thanks Coen, wherever you are )
