I hope I run into some Free pieces, I'm sure I could if I just socialized more! Anyways I think that wood would work great for you. How will you do it? Maybe use two pieces on top of each other, then 1/4" figured top, to get the thickness? What kind of top would you prefer, if you ues one? I will go check out your progress thread as soon as I finish this post, I bet that I saw it already but didn't correlate it to this post. Sorry my brain isn't always working. Well good luck with everything, I really would like to see that design with the cut out. That would be my new favorite of your designs. Have a good one, Jason.
