runbacker30 Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 I'm going to build my own guitar soon, and was wondering if I could glue to pieces of wood together to get the desired thickness I want? Quote
runbacker30 Posted July 26, 2005 Author Report Posted July 26, 2005 Well, I didn't know if it would add weakness to the body. So then nothing bad would happen? Quote
erikbojerik Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 If the glue joint is good (all joint surfaces flat & meet with no gaps, not too much glue, not too little glue) then the glue joint should be stronger than the wood itself. I've made 4-piece semi-hollow bodies with 2-piece tops & 2-piece sides glued up as you're suggesting...no problems! Quote
