Deja
What wood are standard stingrays usually made of, i tried checking the site but it didn't say it anywhere. Is maple too bright sounding for a bass fretboard because i just love the look of it, i don't know why... Does anybody have a cad of a stingray or can anyone do me a favour and blow one up in photoshop, i don't have it.
thegarehanman
Maple isn't too bright. A good friend of mine has a stingray with a transparent yellow finish and a maple fretboard. It's his baby. As for the wood. I can't tell you that off the top of my head. I'm sure if you look at musician's friend or ams, they'll have it. Phil Mailloux
The musicman website mentions only "select hardwoods" obviously they don't really want you to know. Most clear finished Stingrays are ash, you'll also get alder ones and god knows what else under opaque ones. Check out the musicman forum on "the dudepit" if you want to find out more about Stingrays
Primal
Yea, I imagine they just use industry standard woods (ash, alder, etc) since their signature tone really comes from the pickups and electronics.
