ELXVintagefade
Can I fret the fretboard before I glue it on to the neck? Also do I need a locking nut if I have Locking tuners?
Scott Rosenberger
Yes and yes It will be more difficult to get a good even clamping pressure with the frets in and you also risk denting the frets as well
feylya
No, you don't need locking tuners and a locking nut. If you have a floating trem (Edge, Floyd Rose, etc.) then a locking nut would be a really good idea so the string doesn't move through the nut when you dive on the trem. However, if you have a stop bar or standard trem, locking tuners would be very nice cos they'll keep everything in tune a bit more.
Sean
Unless you order otherwise, Floyd Rose equipped Carvins use Sperzel locking tuners and a regular graphite nut. I think the key is making sure that the string does not bind whatsoever in the nut.
