Claveler Posted September 17, 2005 Report Share Posted September 17, 2005 (edited) OK. I bought a Gibson 498t humbucker for my guitar. It has four cables. Red, Green, White, Black and Shield. The instructions say to connect Red to controls; Solder green and white, tape them and leave them alone; and to connect Black and Shield to ground. I assume that I have to connect the red one to the toggle switch. The Green and White cables are easy. Now, where the hell do I connect Black and Shield? blackburncustomguitars Posted September 17, 2005 Report Share Posted September 17, 2005 Hi, Assuming that you have all the rest of the wiring of the pickups correct, solder the gounds to the back of the pot where you have the highest number of other grounds (called star grounding).
