Mickguard
Nice, that's definitely getting closer. I'd suggest you continue with the idea --again, look at the link maiden posted --the single strip continuing down the center line will help unify the whole thing. And since your center line is pretty visible, you can take care of that at the same time. In that case, consider adding a center strip in the block section too --it won't look off, but might help to unify everything. Only thing though --with that nice purpleheart, you're going to have to find something to match it for the binding now!

I kinda prefer the simpler 2+1 version instead of the 3+1. But is all this purpleheart on the body going to cause me problems later on? I mean the colour purple is very striking. What colour stain will look good with it? Also, do I have to mask the purpleheart when staining? Arghhhh... maybe I should just fill that hole and paint the damn thing!? idch, the center line is not visible, that's why I had to draw a pencil line. jay5
Just leave it like the first mockup. Its less work than the other two, less clutter, and looks much better IMO.
Maiden69
What color were you going for? It should be a color that looks good with purpleheart, if not the fretboard would look out of place. Just tape the purple heart with pinstripe 3M tape, seal them, ans then stain the body, leave them natural. I think that the Santana look is better, but like Jay mentioned is more work, if you do it, make sure you extend it till the pup hole, not like the PS rendering.
