Removing Volume Knob

What is the safest and easiest way to remove a volume knob off a hamer sunburst arch top?

I find a rag wrapped around the base, then pulled up and bunched around the knob usually provides enough purchase to remove the knob. Any attempt to use a lever under the knob will usually damage the knob, or far worse, the guitar top.

Although I don't own one, the Knob & Bushing Puller from Stew Mac should do the job perfect. Just be careful like Setch said to not hurt the guitars finish.

I just use the rag trick like Setch says. It works well enough to not have to buy a special tool to do the same thing.

Yeah I never pry anything with a screw driver ect.. from the top of guitar.
