Basing My Custom On An Import

well, long story short, i love mockingbirds. so i went out and bought a bronze series and i am using it as a template. im most likely even putting on a black wraparound bridge and the same electronic configuration (different pups though). i also am making the neck joint the same. i think the only difference is the headstock (3x3), and the woods (quilt maple, mahogany, ebony, birdseye maple).

is it weird that im pretty much basing my custom on a cheapy import? is there anything i can do that will change it a little more?

haha i have started its all glued but i have to wait till after christmas holidays to get er' done

I wouldnt say its weird, i mean afterall your not making it to the same standards as the bronze series (theoretically )

Plus you should base it on what YOU want, if you like it, then go for it!!

really the only difference between super dooper mockingbird platinums and crappy bronze imports is what they are made of, you are just making a high end version, nothing wrong with that.
