mcbmoreno Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Hey, Getting ready to finish my guitar, I read a lot of the posts and read through reranch. I am trying to get something close to this finish Finish Would you guys recommend using a spray or a wipe on. Also if I do a spray do you have to seal between colors like reranch says? Quote
AlGeeEater Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Personally, I would spray it, but that's just me. It can be wiped on too if you like. Wiping on is probaly a little easier if you've never done a burst with a gun before. Yes, you should seal between coats, incase you mess up spraying the burst because then you can sand it back without sanding the dye on the body already. Quote
Maiden69 Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 (edited) You can do either way. I know that PRS do their stains wiped on, but I'm not sure about their burst. I think it is a yellow wiped on with a light orange sprayed burst. Idon't think it looks liek an wiped on burst to me. Look at Mykas work to see how a wiped on burst looks like. mikhailgtrski Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Maiden is correct - PRS sprays their bursts, and they probably wipe on the initial color. Rodney sent me this: PRS tour Quote
AlGeeEater Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Yep, to this day PRS sprays there bursts on. Quote
