ibanez_crazy Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 I have a guitar body that I hope to save, and Im not sure if its possible. Where the neck meets the body , there is a crack. Looked like the crack you get on most older non aanj ibanez bodies in the finish, but when I stripped the guitar, its in the wood. Is there a way to prevent the crack from getting longer? I was thinking of drilling a hole through the body, and gluing a dowel rod in place. Is there something not so drastic, or should I split the body completely and reglue J/K Quote
RGGR Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 A dowel seems bit radical. Why don't you wedge open the crack, and drip glue in the opening. Apply pressure when glue hardens. Normally a proper wood/glue/wood joint is stronger then original wood. Quote
ibanez_crazy Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 True, but the crack isnt that wide yet. It looks like a finish crack on the wood itself. It isnt even wide enough to inject glue with a needle yet, and if I pull on it i dont want the crack to go fatrther. Right now its only about 2 inches long. Quote
