Sabu2k1 Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) hey, whats up board, I found this little nifty LED thingy in one of my lil bro's toys, so I took it out and was going to make it so it could fit behind my headstock and have the LEDs stick out and well, flash, but I came up with a problem, as I want to run them straight off the battery, only with a on/off switch to power them, I took a pic so I can demonstrate what I have. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v681/ZOMB13/PICT0003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v681/ZOMB13/PICT0005.jpg How can I wired all those LEDs so they turn on when I flip the switch on? and will they still be able to flicker on their own or just be on? Nitefly SA Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 pictures arent working for me, but the LEDs to the best of my knowledge need a chip or mini computer of some sort for them to move in patterns or anything, otherwise i think it would just be on/off Quote
Sabu2k1 Posted March 29, 2006 Author Report Posted March 29, 2006 Pics shoudl work now, I think that has a little chip already in there, but, its really bulky and big and wondt fit as nicely as I had planned. What can I do? Quote
Ben Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 You can buy almost identical things, that may be more compact from some electronics suppliers: eg: http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rkmain.a...73834&XPAGENO=4 http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rkmain.a...73845&XPAGENO=3 Theres loads more available, (some better ones if you look harder) even things that make animal noises :-) Quote

Nitefly SA Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 are there two wires that arent attached to anything? Quote
Sabu2k1 Posted April 2, 2006 Author Report Posted April 2, 2006 the yellow wire was connected to the green circuit, but I disconnected that and nothing lights up, I want to wire it so that theres no use for the circuit board, takes up too much space Quote
Marzocchi705 Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 Ok, let me get this right, you want to wire just the LED's to a battery and switch? why not just remove all the LED's and make a series curcuit out of them? You do realise that if you remove the PCB from the curcuit you have they will not flash or do anything fancy. Quote
Sabu2k1 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 Yes, I realize that, its just that keeping the circuit is too much of a hassle because its very big, how do I wire them like you mentioned, seems easier, Quote
Marzocchi705 Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 id actauly wire it in paralel, using a resisitor for each LED, thatway if one of them blow's they dont all go out. its a pretty simple curcuit, i'll go draw one out for you. Quote
Sabu2k1 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Report Posted April 5, 2006 ooh, does that mean I have to buy resistors now? what about the ones that are in the cicuit? well, they are cheap at radio shack... Ok, Ill wait for the diagram, thanks! Quote
Mitch72 Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 hey Sabu2k1 i dunno about the LED's blowing without resistors (i don't really know much about them)... but a link anyway (Scroll down to the "parallel" section) i just found it by googling "leds wired parallel"... there's heaps there...
