How do you guys go about routing perfectly square edges?

Are you asking about square edges, or square corners?

Indeed. Square edges (like, table) can almost be done with a router (although I'd personally reccomend a chisel or a plane), and there's the 'where would you want to put one that's not going to snap off as soon as you bump into it' side of the argument. Square corners in cavities...chisel. No question.

Maybe he means square sides --like if he's trying to make the body shape?

In that case, router/template or bandsaw or scrollsaw or robosander, etc.

Nah, I meant for routing cavities... but it was already answered via "chisel"... however, chisels kind of scare me :-\

If chisels scare you, then make sure the chisels you use are razor sharp, or even scary sharp(hint: do a search on google for "scary sharp"). As peculiar as that might sound, it holds truth. The sharper your chisels are, the less force you'll have to use to get them to cut, and if you're using less force to cut, then there's less of a chance that the chisel will slip, or what have you, and do damage to yourself.

Routers scare me a lot more than chisels...
