tsl602000
I made a dumb mistake... I cut my nut slot slightly too wide... what would you suggest to do?
krazyderek
use heavier strings on that guitar?
tsl602000
use heavier strings on that guitar? nah, I like my .011's.... I was talking about the nut slot itself.... it's slightly larger than 1/8". The nut can be slightly moved back and forth. Should I fill it with either superglue or epoxy? budman68
You could always fill it with epoxy and let it COMPLETELY dry and re-cut if you didn't want to change the nut(or use heavier strings). Dave->
Roli
Use a larger nut as well.
krazyderek
ooooooh woopsie are one of the edges at the correct distance from the first fret? if so just push it against that side of the cut and glue, or would you have to keep the nut in the center of the slot for correct placement? I any case you can move the nut as much as 0.03" towards the first fret without anyworries, in fact it's a good thing, it's part of some tempered tuning systems. or would you preffer not glueing? which case you could just shop around for a thicker blank somewhere
tsl602000
yeah, the first edge has the correct distance to slot A. Guess got a bit over enthousiastic when sawing out the nut slot. It's about 0,6mm (0.024") too wide. Although I can cut my own nuts, I prefer to use the pre-slotted Tusq nuts. I really like 'm.
