Martin
Not so long ago, I found a new type of locking tuners for bass - where the string goes trough the center of the tuner and comes out on the back of the headstock. Unfortunately I didn't save the url and I have tried to search everywhere for it without success. If anybody have a link to a website where these new locking tuners can be found, please reply. No one of the following manufacturers have it - so I'm quite stuck here; Schaller Sperzel Gotoh Hipshot Planet Waves Kluson Martin
verhoevenc
I wouldn't call those LOCKING... but the ones on my Rickenbacker go down a hole in the center... and I'm pretty sure the Grover Mini bass tuners I just bought do that. I was under the impression this was standard for bass tuners? Chris
Cerb
Never do they come out the back of the headstock, though, as he mentioned.
weaponepsilon
Never seen anything like that. Forgive me if I'm blatant in saying so, but what would be the point in having the string coming out the back of your headstock?
Nitefly SA
I don't think that you could put enough pressure on a bass string to make it "lock". especially with those swa-toothed little wheels on the backs of sperzels. Bass tremelos are a rare occurance so there really isn't a huge demand for locking tuners.
Cerb
Plus, even without them, I doubt the bass would go out of tune if you had decent tuners. My basses stay tuned within 2 or 3 cents for weeks without retuning.
Odin
Im not shure if i see the need of locking tuners on a bass..but anyway, Guitarwhorkshop (Oslo, Norway) used to have locking tuners on their basses, during the eighties. I belive the had the patent as well. Unfortunately GW do not exist anymore.
