ibnaz5150
Hello folks......I plan on using epoxy mixed with some rosewood dust for my pores. Should this be done in a few steps???...ex. top 1st then sides...then bottom. What's a good method for applying to the sides??? I plan on tru -oil for my finish.....should I seal the body 1st prior to filling with epoxy? Thanks, Tom
Mattia
Why the rosewood dust? Epoxy used as filler doubles as an instant filler, and will in fact not stick all that well to many sealers (it doesn't adhere great to shellac, f'r instance)
Setch
I think Mattia meant to say: Epoxy used as filler doubles as an instant sealer, It also pops the grain of wood very nicely, so I don't use a sealer under it.

ibnaz5150
Just thought the rosewood dust from the actual body would help fill the pores better.....possibly add some contrast with the grain??? What method... tricks or tips do you use for the sides? I've used waterbased grain filler with a coarse rag for the sides....just skeptical with the epoxy..seems to me to be much more tackier. don't want any fuzz in more pores! Mattia
IMO the rosewood dust would just 'dull' the look; epoxy is much tackier - it's glue! Like any other pore filler, it will take some practice to get good at it. Google for some articles (Mike Doolin's particularly) on pore filling with epoxy.
