www Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Has anyone used the Dremel, Stew Mac, Roy Nobel router bases? If so what are advantages and disavantages? The Dremel base is much less expensive. Are the extra $$$ worth spending for the other bases? Quote
Brian Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I have the Stew Mac version, personally I haven't had a problem with it. Quote
daveq Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 I have the Dremel base and the Stewmac base. I was perfectly happy with the Dremel base but I wanted the accuracy of the stewmac bottom plate. The Dremel base is plastic and isn't always flat. The stewmac base is metal and is supposed to be precise in it's flatness in addition to other features it has. The stewmac base also allows for a coarse and fine adjustment for height where as the Dremel base only has one adjustment. The weight of the stewmac base also seems to provide more stability. For most applications, the Dremel base is great. If you are concerned about accuracy for a particular situation, the stewmac base is the thing to have. Quote
