iskim86 Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 so for the sides of my body, I decided to use chemicals instead of sandpaper. so I opened my bottle of lacquer thinner and use my brush to brush it on, but it evaporates in mere seconds. how would I deal with this? did I get the wrong stuff? Setch Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 You need Stripper, not thinner. Thinner is for cleaning brushes/spray equipment, and for thinning lacquer. It isn't intended for stripping paint. The clue is in the names... Quote
Drak Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 You might want to try a heat gun and a putty knife for stripping, but be careful not to dig into the wood with the corner of the putty knife if you do. If I have to strip, I usually use a heat gun, it's a very clean way to do it if you're careful and don't let it catch on fire either, keep the gun moving back and forth. And no, a hair dryer probably won't work. Quote
Sand Paper Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 At work we attack most painted finishes with a heat gun first and then run them through the chemical overflow to totaly clean them off. Be careful when using paint stripper. Quote
