Different Kind Of Killswitch

i saw the idea for this somewhere and it sparked my interest. would it be possible to hook up a small metal plate as a killswitch so when you touched it it would kill the sound? The idea i heard before was to run the ground lug to the plate, so you touching it would ground it, but i heard that would only work if you didn't have shoes on. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this?

I wouldn't want to fool around with using yourself as part of the guitar circuit... it kinda makes me a bit disconcerted. Why not get a momentary/temporary switch?

You could easily isolate yourself by using the metal plate to activate a relay that kills the signal. However, I think it would be far easier to just place a momentary switch under a piece of metal.

^what do you mean put the switch under a piece of metal? would i wire it normally and do that? what position would the switch have to be in? and what about "relaying", how would i go about doing that?

you could always try the Stevie Ray kill switch wired to the mic

BTW, that clapper idea is brilliant...if only I'd seen that before April 1st, I did some wiring on my friends bass.

You could put 2 metal plates close to eachother but not touching. One goes to the hot signal and one goes to ground so when you put your finger over the gap it would ground it. This wouldn't shock you because it would only be going through your finger. This might not perfectly ground it because your finger would have alot of resistance, but it's worth a try.
