Strat Pickup In A Tele?

Does anyone know if a strat pickup will fit in the bridge position of a telecaster? Without extra routing and your standard tele bridge, that is.

A tele bridge pup has three screws placed in a triangular pattern. A strat pup has two screws at the ends. Other wise it fill probably fit, but you might have to deepen the rout. So, no it will not work without modifications.

The entire size of the bobbin is different, so it'll be more than just a screwhole mod, too.

should work, i was going to try it with a lace sensor in my bridge (cut the side ears off and glue the bottom of a telebobbin to the bottom) the actual coils appear to the be the same size (height and length) but the top part of a tele bobbin is much bigger, this wont make much difference inside the guitar.

You could always do like Hohner did on the Tele copy that Prince likes so much.

It uses a Strat style hardtail and a pickguard material filler panel type thing to hold the Strat style pickup. Of course, that's assuming the S pup will fit the T rout.
