Mosrite Mark V

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

This is my first post here..

I started a few months ago thinking in building a Mosrite Mark V.

A friend helped me with the Solidworks project and the body will be made in a CNC machine.

And the neck was made by another friend.

For now i will just post some photos from the neck..

:D

Wow! I just saw a picture of one of those the other day, and I have to say, they are cool looking guitars. Should be an interesting project, how far along is the body?

Well, i havent started with the body yet, i hope to begin it soon.. :D

But here are some pics from the body project..

Hi there..

I'm back to the project, finally.. :D

But i've changed my plans..

The body won't be made on a cnc anymore and i wont be doing it like a copy of the Mark V.

First, inspired on the "Jazzblaster", the guitar that Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth uses, i bought 2 wide range pickups.

Second, instead of the Bigsby i'm thinking in using a tailpiece of a Jazzmaster or one from a Mustang.

So, any ideas?

Ooh - post back when you drop those in - they seem to be the only thing approaching a repro of the old Wide-Range Humbuckers that I've seen around - I'm curious if they sound anything like the old vintage ones, or like the ones on new fenders (which really just sound like a regular humbucker under a fancy cover)

Eiii!

Almost 2 years after i started this project, here i am finishing it.

Due lack of time,i did everything as i could.

It's almost over now..

The guitar is already painted and i have everything i need.

The only thing missing is the decal for the headstock and i got no clue how im going to solve it.

This is the idea for it but replacing the trem.

:D

Wouldnt it be difficult to reach the upper fretts with that cut-out?

Well, maybe in the lasts frets, but its something that im already used to.

Hey! Great looking build! I've got a question for you solidworks friend! I use solidworks, and was wondering how to make a guitar shape, as (even in 2d from the top) I don't know what radius guitars have. Does he use a background or something?

Cheers!

Hey, thanks.. :D

Well i havent talked with in a while,to be honest more than a year, but if i manage to talk to him i will ask him about that.
