syxxstring
What's the best way to get a flat finish with the paint that you can get from Stewmac? You either need to buy a paint that is sold as a flat paint, or from a company that has a flat additive.
brewu22
What's the best way to get a flat finish with the paint that you can get from Stewmac? Depends on what you mean by flat. Are you talking about flat, meaning no gloss? Or are you talking about no orange peel in the finish?
icetrey
I mean flat as in no gloss. Could I just wetsand the gloss off and not buff it? Or what way would be better?
thegarehanman
wetsanding will leave it hazy. If you spray the finish and it's smooth (ie, no imperfections), then you can just hit it with some 0000 steel wool. I like to wax and buff a finish after I flatten it with steel wool. It makes it have more of a satin appearance than a flat one. If you like the way it looks after the steel wool though, i'd advise you to not wax it. peace, russ
GA Bert
Most paint suppliers sell a "flattening agent" you can add to gloss lacquer. As a bonus the flattened lacquer really lays down smoothe.
