jaycee
What differences are there between the Neck, Middle and Bridge pickups on a Strat, or any guitar that has two or more pickups which look the same.
Mike Sulzer
What differences are there between the Neck, Middle and Bridge pickups on a Strat, or any guitar that has two or more pickups which look the same. Often the brdige pickup has more turns of wire to make up for the fact that there is less string amplitude near the bridge, but I believe standard strats have all three pickups the same. On newer strats, the middle pickup is often reverse wound and reverse polarity (RW/RP) so that the combined positions produce a humbucker effect to reduce noise. SwedishLuthier
On the earliest Strats the neck and midle pickup was actually hotter than the bridge. That was changed pretty quickly to identical pickups as the players didn't like the weak bridge pickup.
