Masina
Does anyone know if you can get reels of different gauge strings, from which you cut off a length and tie on a ball end? coz that would be a lot cheaper. Ever heard of anything like it?
mammoth guitars
Webstrings is probably the lowest cost. Never heard of bulk sold as a reel.
fryovanni
Put together a bulk buy with guys on this site through a vender who is a member. Other forums do things like this to work as a group to increase purchasing power. Peace,Rich
Mattia
Stringthis.com, martin strings, electric and/or acoustic, bulk packed. Also have good prices on multipacks of other brands. Cheap as anything. Juststrings.com if you need slightly more exotic options (like baritone strings, etc.).
rhoads56
I think you guys missed the question... He wants to buy WIRE, and ADD a ball end. Im assuming he has a machine to add the wraps, which go on AFTER the ball end it twisted on. It amazes me how much effort someone will go to, to save less than $2. Maybe his sign on date is an indicator.
Jon
It'd be sweet for me - It cost me over $180 to string all my basses (4 of them). But I take great care of my strings, keep them clean and they'll keep their brightness for a long time.

Mike Sulzer
For the plain strings you want piano wire, sometimes called music wire. It is a high carbon steel. You can find some places selling it on the web, but it is not really all that common. I think you are out of luck on the wrapped strings. Also, for bulk pre-made strings, you can try juststrings.com in addtion to the others suggested.
