Mitjovan Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hey! I`ve just purchased Hipshot hardtail bridge for my guitar in black finish. My guitar isn`t finished yet, but i decided to try the bridge. I put the string into position, and the string just sweeped away the black finish from the saddle. Right top of the picture. I wander is it common for black finished hardware, is it only Hipshot lame finishing, or is it something else? It is not a big deal, but it sucks! Any advice? Quote
Prostheta Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 The string will hide it in use, but if it’s an issue (ie. plating coming off on other parts of the bridge/saddles) then I would contact Hipshot as they’re very very very good on customer service. Really. They are. Quote
WezV Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 generally black plating does wear off a lot easier than chrome. the high wear areas like under the strings and the points the intonation screws touch will not last long at all... but the rest should still last a good while Quote
MescaBug Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I had the same problem. They use paint on those bridges, no powdercoating or plating. Like Prostheta said, strings will hide it anyway. Even with powdercoating, strings will get through the finish after a while. You will have the exact same problem with any hardware that's been painted. Quote
