DJGuitars
hey guys, i stripped my guitar of paint and everything else. I'm now materializing it. Im putting fabric on the sides too. It's almost done, but i want to put metal lining/siding around the edges. Does anyone have any ideas on what i could use or how to do it? Thanks Edited May 2, 2008 by DJGuitars
soapbarstrat
I thought about doing something like that with long lengths of fret-wire.
fryovanni
Something like metal binding? I saw some thin strips (1/16" thick or so x 1/4" tall) at either a Lowes or Home Depot once apon a time and wondered how it would work as binding. If I was to try that I would probabaly use .02"(or a BWB layup) black fiber side and bottom purfs. That would probabaly make for a nice transition, and make for easier finishing. DJGuitars
how well would the binding bend? and is it chrome?? thanks
fryovanni
how well would the binding bend? and is it chrome?? thanks Bending thin metal is not hard, and I think it was brass strips I saw. I am sure you can buy different metals. Chrome would probabaly crack. It was just a thought. I have never tried it. Peace,Rich

Xanthus
If you went VERY slowly, you might be able to heat up the metal to bend it, if need be. Not unlike using an iron for acoustic sides.
