sockwalker
I have been looking for the glycerin needed for the mix used in flattening veneers. Is there any difference between glycerins. I have found some at the drug store in the skin care section and some at a feed & seed that they said was for making soap. Will any/all of these work? ToddW
You could just go with SuperSoft II. http://www.veneersupplies.com/product_info...products_id=
NotYou
Rockler sells it for like $5. I used it a few weeks ago to help with some tight wood binding (it helped a little).
sockwalker
I found glycerin. Never heard of "Rockler" I just want to be sure glycerin is glycerin is glycerin. I thought about getting the pre made stuff (for about 3 seconds a few days ago) but I would like to get pressing the veneer ASAP.

You can just go to rockler.com and search for glycerin and you'll find it. They have a few locations. You might get lucky and there will be one near you. sockwalker
I did some more digging around the web and found that it is all the same. Now I know a few places where I can get some.
kpcrash
*Technically* it's not all the same. Vegetable glycerin is gentler than glycerin derived from other resources (synthetic, etc.). But, you can use any glycerin. Just make sure you press the hell out of it while damp.
sockwalker
I picked up some "pure glycerin" from CVS pharmacy today. We'll see how it goes. Thanks, Ken
