WezV
i distressed the last two metal leaf finishes quite a lot.... but decided this time to practice doing a proper version on a cheaper guitar i picked up a second hand Yamaha RGX-A2 for a decent price and decided it would work well for this day one: day two, fills done and some colour variation that should even out as the copper changes colour: I dont like the overly stiff rotary control and its LED's so had a rethink on the electrics... its getting an N-tune under the volume control and a normal toggle switch for pickup selection. i am also toying with the idea of a couple of mini toggle coil splits/taps (depending on final pickups)
verhoevenc
Hot! Are you just using standard gilding supplies/techniques? Sizing and all that jazz? Chris
WezV
yeah, so far. last one i did i used rustins plastic coating over and it did not seem to cause any issues with the acrylic size. once i have let this one achieve a colour i am happy with it will get a few light coats of rattle can acyrlic lacquer - if the tests show that it will work
Kammo1
Very cool guitar Wez and I agree Rustins Plastic Coating can literally be painted over anything and the adhesion is far superior that some 2k Clears, great job
avengers63
You and your wenge veneer countertop. Had I gone in to Guitar Center a day earlier last year, I'd have been able to pick up one of those Yamahas for $100. I'd have ended up scavenging all the parts from it and re-seling the body. Oh well.
WezV
it would have been $100 well spent, i have heard about some of the offers that were done on these!!! over here new ones are about £250-350 and i got this secondhand one in great condition for just over £100 they still hold up very well against most mid-level instruments, by which i mean £300-
