Curtis P Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I got a Commadore acoustic guitar, needs to be re painted, no truss rod, steel reinforced neck, on the back it has 2 cracks about 10 inchs long, this was my grandmothers guitar that she got for free and never used it, my uncle played it a bit, then i inherited 2 years ago, then bought my electric, i was wondering, what can i do to fix the cracks? i aint going to repaint it because its a sunburst paint, it has chips all out of the front (paint chips) and i do not want to redo that paint job, those cracks are just seeming to get bigger every month, especially when the humidty goes up, then drops suddenly, other then that its a great guitar, any thoughts? Snork Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 cracks in the finish or in the actual guitar? Quote
Brian Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 IF it's a crack in the top wood itself you could try glueing a flat patch from behind to stop or help brace it, that way it will still have the cool relic look on the outside since your not going to refinish it. Quote
Curtis P Posted January 5, 2004 Author Report Posted January 5, 2004 ts in the actual wood itself, i was told just regular white glue and lots of it will dry up clear and rock hard, i havent tried it yet though, will that work? Curtis Quote
