jessejames
I am going to be trying my firs tru-oil finish. I dont want to fill the grain on this project, I want an open pore look. I was wondering if I needed to use sanding sealer before the tru-oil? There are a few blemishes I would like semi-filled before I apply the finish, so I was wondering what was the best route? Ripthorn
Tru-Oil and its sealer will take forever to fill things in. I would go with a little super glue to partially fill the blemishes. I did a tru oil finish over a walnut, alder, and flame maple bass with it and the walnut has a great open-pored look. Musiclogic
As Ripthorn said above, but you can also use grain filler, or epoxy with some dust to fill the voids also. Good Luck
