Maelstrom
I'm currently working on a project that's going to have a matte finish. Can I do this with regular clear coat laquer? Do I just do the touch up proccess until the point when I should start to buff and polish? Couldn't find any tutorial which deals with these questions, hope anyone here has some answers... MikeB
my blue gibson lp kit has a matte finish. i used matte Plasticote paint, and i didnt lacquer it. finished it just as you would for a lacquered guitar, but didnt buff to a high gloss. But doesn't it wear off after using the guitar for a while? I've used regular acrylic black matte laquer. Can I just leave it there without worrying about wearing it off... bluespresence
Here's a trick I use on necks. I spray with lacquer like normal, then when it's dry I wet sand it. I don't polish it so it keeps that slick, satiny feel and look. If you use a 1500-2000 grit paper for wet sanding you won't get a shine, just a nice matte type finish.
