Bmth Builder Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 All the big companies make their neck throughs so the tenon doesnt quite cover the entire width of the bridge, is this simply economy of materials or something else? Heres what I mean, Quote
westhemann Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Of course it is economy of materials...much less waste that way. Quote
WezV Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 yeah, i dont think its anything other than not making the neck blank wider than it physically needs to be to fit a neck on it. but i am ok with that but if you are going to argue tonal benefits of thru-necks then it makes less sense. westhemann Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 but if you are going to argue tonal benefits of thru-necks then it makes less sense. i really think the only tonal difference is in the ratio of neck wood to body wood..i think an all mahogany set neck will sound very much like an all mahogany neck through if all of the other variables are negated...
