Bizman62 Posted May 16, 2020 Report Share Posted May 16, 2020 It has been done. Crimson Guitars have a video about adding a maple veneer on a carved top since the customer had changed his mind! Adding a new top on a flat guitar is a piece of cake, even with the contour like on a strat. In any case it would help to help you if you told what type of a guitar you're talking about, especially if there's large roundovers or deep carving. I made a guitar out of ovangkol and it weighed 13lb so I unset the neck, planed the top off, hollowed out the body and stuck another carved maple top on it.
