s1220 Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 hi everyone new to this forum, rercommended by someone on www.satriani.com, anyway i was wondering if anyone could tell me if its possible to fit a push pull pot to my volume control so that i can switch a high pass filter (0.001 capacitor) on and off. Also i was wondering that if i did this would i be able to get the high pass filter to work so i could increase thwe treble at higher volumes by switching the high pass filter on, cos this would be kindas cool for feedback etc. Any help is much appreciated. fidgec94 Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 You would replace the volume pot with a push/pull type, not too expensive. It might be handy to know the dimensions of it before buying as the control cavity will need to be deep enough. Not sure about the high pass filter part though! Quote
daveq Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Are you asking two questions? If I'm reading this correctly, you want a high pass filter activated by the pull or push on your volume pot AND you want the filter response to change with the volume as well? Quote
lovekraft Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 You do realize that passive pickups have more high end with the volume wide open without modification, right? A high-pass filter is only going to cut the bass, it won't boost the treble unless you use an active circuit. If you want feedback, it would probably be more helpful to compress the signal than high-pass it. So, yes, I'm sure it could be done, but I don't think it will do what you want it to. You might try a treble booster. Quote
s1220 Posted February 17, 2004 Author Report Posted February 17, 2004 cheers, but now is there any way you can get passive treble boosters? so i could have an automatic high pass filter, with the volume and then pull the switch out for a passive treble booster? Quote
BeAR Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 As stated before, you have the maximum amount of treble available when thevolume is up full. The only way to increase it futher is to use an active circuit. Quote
KeithHowell Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 You could make a bass cut filter, which would cut the bass wrt the treble but you still don't have a boost with a passive circuit you are only cutting the part you don't want ie bass or treble. Keith Quote
