Kyle Pearson
Hey all, I am currently starting my first S type build, and have a question about the headstock side profile. Up until now I have only built necks with an angled headstock so have never needed to construct one with a curved transition into the fretboard (see attached photo) What are the best practices for cutting this profile? would it be best to band saw the excess material before cutting the blank to shape? or cut the outside neck profile and then shape the headstock transition. Appreciate the help.
RVA
Welcome! It is often done with an oscillating spindle sander after the neck is shaped. The jig used here is just one example of how to hold the neck in the desired position.

Crusader
I'm not sure what you are asking but this is how I did it. I use a router to do final shaping of curve
Bizman62
A combination of sawing and spindle sanding is also a valid method.
