fguihen Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 hey all. got my new schaller trem and it fits into my ibanez except for one thing, the block is too long and stops me putting on the cover on the back. will it make any difference if i take 7 or 8 mm off the block??did anyone do it before? Scott Rosenberger Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 I can't see it affecting anything, except the hole where the trem springs mount would probably have to be drilled deeper Quote
LGM Guitars Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 dude, you will be filing for a long time. See if there is a local machine shop close to you that can mill the material off and redrill your holes. Failing that, scribe a line and cut the material off with a hacksaw, then file it smooth. You will likely need to redrill your holes though as scott said. Quote
Brian Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Been there done that, go with the machine shop option if you can. The cutting with the hacksaw is the easy part, I killed 3 bit's redrilling the hole's out on an Ibanez block, looks like cheap pot metal but the stuff is tuff. Quote
LGM Guitars Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 damn dude, you need better drill bits, I've drilled lots of Ibanez blocks, the trick is, it's a cast piece, there is alot of carbon in a casting, you need to use coolant, or it will harden on you and kill your bit Quote
