www
I just bought three Avant hand planes. They seem to be of an overall good quality. They are rated by some as better than Stanley. These brands were the only planes I found under $100.00. I bought the #3,#5 and #7. These will give you the ability to do just about anything that a plane is made for. Here is the site with the best prices that I was able to find.
jay5
Hey, those look nice, thanks! That is about the price I was looking for. I mainly want one for planing fingerboards and necks to the correct widths. Which one would be better for that if any? What are the main differences between the 3 you choose? Thanks WWW! www
The #3 is a finish plane. That is the one you should use for the fretboard. The #5 is good for just about anything. It is fair at finishing and good for taking a lot of wood off. The #7 is for jointing.
