daveq
Do you think it's possible to bend a 3/8" quilted maple top? I've done 1/4" hard maple tops before but that quilted stuff sure seems soft and easy to bend. I can plane it down to 1/4 if you think that's the limit. Brian
I'm sure it's possible but how is another story, the grain in it really would have me worried about popouts, cracks, splits and such.
Scott Rosenberger
3/8 is a little much. While it may be possible I haven't had any luck with thicker than 1/4" and I have access to a Killer Vaccum Press
daveq
OK, thanks guys. I don't want to risk it with this piece - I got it from buzzsaw and it's a real looker. Maybe I'll see if I can get it resawn somewhere - I'd hate to plane away all of that beatiful wood.
