ISUBARUI
What is a good depth to route the pickup cavities and the electronic cavity on a strat??
Guitarfrenzy
Funny you ask, I am doing a Making A Strat pictorial of a current project. These are some of the dimensions that I recorded off a Strat I have before I started this project. The depths are as follows.
truerussian558
those measurments look correct but make sure that you dont go through to the trem rout, and if you are planning to use a "superswitch" then the part where the switch goes needs to be routed deeper
ISUBARUI
alright thanks. Should i drill the holes for the faceplate and what not before or after i paint the body?
kench
Also.. if you ever want to use DiMarzio's humcancelling pickups for Strat... such as HS-1, HS-3.. you will need a little deeper cavity. Because those pickups are actually humbuckers with one coil on the top of the other. So they are taller than standard single-coils. But my brother used those pickups with his Standard Stratocaster without any modification to the cavity.. If 3/4" depth is from a standard Strat body.. that will be an enough space. daveq
If you're trying to duplicate a strat, mimf sells strat plans for a resonable price. All of the dimensions are included and it's a full size drawing.
