  3. god don't let that happen!!!!!!!!!! out of curiosity, what problems are you having with an edge? I've found that set up properly, the only kind of guitar more stable is a fixed bridge.
  4. God, I have'nt seen that auction in probably 2 years LOL, odd, he still hasn't sold it
  5. what he means is, drill about a 1/16" hole in the fret slot at the 1sth and 15th fret, these are locators for your fretboard, that way you know it's aligned, once the board is dried, you remove the drill bits, Personally, I use round toothpicks and glue them with the board, then I just recut that spot on the fret slot. Eitherway, it's simply a location method.
  6. out of the hundreds of guitars he has, what one are you talking about? it's likely an ESP, but could be one of his old Gibsons

  8. outside of how the big boys do it (CNC machines) it's basically by hand, however, if you have a big enough band saw, you can cut the arm recess, and with a decent jig and a large diameter blade you can remove material in a hurry on a table saw in the tummy cut out. just run it across the blade, and keep adjusting the height. then smooth it with a rasp, then sand paper.

  10. Rainsong has been building all carbon fibre acoustics for quite some time. they are amazing guitars. I've worked with kevlar and carbon fibre for years now, and I can tell you, if you are going to work with either one, be very very careful, this stuff is deadly. not toxic deadly, but it is notorius for incredilby small shards becoming slivers you won't feel, but will get into your blood stream. Kevlar also infects very quickly if you get a sliver. when sanding, the dust is not good for you at all either, (not like any dust is, but this stuff is worse due to the sliver thing again) It's also very difficult to work with without the right equipement. Anyone can use carbon or kevlar to reinforce with, but to actually create bodies, and necks, requires an autoclave and intense heat and pressure. Parker builds electric guitars utilizing much carbon fibre as well. Kevlar, is harder to bond, harder two work with, and ugly, so you don't see much of it. both also create rf interference which can cause noise in electronics. check out Rainsong acoustics and Parker Guitars
  11. can't do that, the adhesive on the vinyl is already there, it has to print on the top. otherwise, the sticky is on the wrong side, vinyl is just like tape, usually the printed stuff is done on solid white vinyl so the colors are opaque, and vibrant.
  12. no, your full print would already be on the vinyl, getting a clear paint that adheres well to the vinyl is tricky. Vinyl has almost a waxy like finish on it, it works fine with most clears if you can scuff the surface with scotchbrite or something, but that would ruin a graphic. The other issue with vinyl, is it is just a sticky adhesive, over time, it stands the chance of lifting on the body and ruining the job. I haven't played with a full body cover in vinyl, just logo's and they are small enough I haven't worried about it at all. yoda oh, you avoid bubbles same way sign makers do, you spray on a soapy water solution from a spray bottle, then lay the vinyl on that, you squeegee out the water, and it leaves no bubbles. yes, I'm bored! LOL!!!
  13. oh, to alleviate any confusion in my initial post, the actual ESP Kamikaze would be done with masks, the guitar in the auction thread is the same guitar as the Kamikaze, but not Kamikaze graphics, the Kamikaze is all hard edges and usually bright colors, I think Vwall has a couple of Kamikaze's
  14. LOL, follow me young jedi, I will guide you to see the light! LOL Anyway, basically, there are a couple ways to do it, take your album cover to a photocopy place, and get a GOOD color copy made on photo paper, then follow the material finish tutorial basically. The only bad side is, if it is a CD cover, you will be enlarging so much you will lose some quality, if it's an LP cover, you will be better. Secondly, you can go to a sign shop, there are a few machines called the Gerber Edge (and many similar ones) that allow full color printing on vinyl, you can get your graphic applied to that, and then just adhere the vinyl to your guitar. If you end up not liking it in a couple months, you can take it off easily with a hair drier. You can also clear over it, but finding a paint that will bond well to the vinyl is tricky somethings. Laquers don't work well, usually you need a 2 part paint which are typically cyanide based, you need a fresh air spray mask and proper booth to safely spray those. Yoda p.s., ironically, I just got an email from another customer who in the end said, "help me obi wan kenobe, you're my only hope" LOL now if yoda could only use the force to get the damn paint reps to give me the info on the paint you want..........
  15. Here is some stuff I've airbrushed, this one was using free form masks These are all freehand free hand and hand held masks Conceptual drawing airbrushed
  16. Why do you say that? Airbrushing is a perfect way to mimic it, most of the ESP's and production fancy graphics, like the skulls and snakes for example were originally airbrushed, then a reproduction was created for the run. The original JPM ibanez's were all airbrushed, then became photo prints. Remember, an airbrush is only a small spray gun, with masks, like you would use on the kamikaze, it's the fastest way to paint it. I use my airbrush every day!
  17. EVEN BETTER DEAL! OOOOOOOOO same price, twice as many!!!!!!!!
  18. "SUPER" DEAL!!!!!!! I about wet myself on this, imagine, ebaying coupons!!!!!
  19. I see now (thanks eddie) that I only listed vines LOL, this deal also includes pyramid inlays as well! Jeremy
  20. new fretboard is done same way as this tutorial shows, with the exception of cutting the taper and adding frets Board removal board replacement
  21. I'd love to dude, I'm a Ferrari freak more than a Jem freak, but where's your website??????? <------I love this guy LOL
  22. you probably won't find a purple heart dowel, but you can buy plug cutters to cut little circles with your drill press. That would be better anyway as you wouldn't want to use an end grain piece for a dot. The only sucky part with purple heart, is it will turn almost black over not that long a time.
  23. it's not the size of the stick that does the trick, it's the throb of the knob that does the job, did I just say that out loud????
  24. Dremel doesn't make a small enough diameter for my liking, and the dremel bits that are close enough to the right size are engraving bits, they burn the wood and the bit way to fast, besides, they charge almost as much for one bit as stew mac does for a pack of the six little ones. DON'T use the 1/8" router bit from dremel, it's to big and if your dremel is any older than brand new, the bearings in them are to sloppy, it'll catch, wander and jump all over the place. The only good thing from Dremel is the tool itself LOL
  25. never seen it done, but I'd enjoy cutting holes in a Les Paul :o
